Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I recently got a dimplex coal and wood burner installed, i know that the flue is insulated with fireproof rockwool.
When the stove is lit, about an hour later i get the smell of burning rockwool. Is this normal? If not what should i do?

    No not normal

    the rest UI surmise
so u need to get them back and seal where the flue from stove enters the chimney.

Your flue is not lined with 'fireproof' rockwool. Did they tell u this?

    No such product

They used rockwool to seal off where the 6" flue from the stove enters the 8" or 9" existing flue and its this is what is burning, they nay have used a bit of stainless flexi flue for the transition and just shoved it up the 8" flue

Any chance of a few pictures.

The flue from stove should go through what is called a registry plate and the seal between this and the flue must be airtight

For the benefit of others can you share the 'how' with us?

Was my guess at the 'why' correct?
