Einhard you claim Gallagher is a "crook" - so let's have it. What is your evidence? It's a serious accusation so I and many others want to hear/see it.

Tell us what he did. Tell us why he is a crook.

I don't think so....I just want to know why he is deemed a criminal.

He looks like one? Really? Is that the treshold for deeming someone a criminal?

    SG is a sham

Claimed to be an entrepreneur. Only had success because of FF croney grants

Claimed to do volunteer and community work. Charged 5k a pop for grant advice to GAA clubs.

Thought dragging his wife to every dog fight would make him more appealing. Smoke n mirrors

I wouldn't bother - Boards politics section is primarily made of of SF types (SF/IRA always come up at 35%/40% in boards polls and then poll a measly 13%. - and it was their top man they sent out.

And considering SF/IRA voters are a determined bunch, this 13% is a MAX vote and in people terms is LESS than the general election.

SG came from nowhere and got over 28% of the vote - and but for the final fumble would be president today. If you were a SF/Ira supporter, you'd be fairly sick at the final result. I'd say SG has plenty of options open to him and a couple of posts on a bulliten board won't affect him.

Dunno about criminal but he is a spoofer of the highest order. I can't see how this isn't beyond any doubt at this stage.

    - Claimed to be "rank and file" member of FF who left in 2009. He was clearly a more active member who left this year.

    - "Voluntary worker" who in fact charged €5k a pop to allow his name to be put on grant application forms for a nonprofit organization.

    - "Highly successful entrepreneur" coupled with a stated income of €11k does not compute. Suggests highly dubious accounting practices.

At best he is a dishonest wheeler-dealer engaged in cronyism of the FF tradition. Given the rate that important questions about him have been revealed about him in past weeks, I shudder to think about more aspects about him that might have come into the open over the next 7 years had he been elected. Far too high of a chance that he would have brought the office into serious disrepute.

For all his talk about job creation, it's worth pointing out that Michael D's work as Arts minister led to the creation of multiples of the numbers of jobs that SG has created during his career.

    because he broke the law.
illegal director's loan, which carries a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.

He avoided prosecution by paying the loan back, but the crime was still committed.

    /end thread

For my money the €5k grant "advice" to GAA clubs is far more damning than the FF fundraising or the director's loans. Straight up corruption like you'd hear about in some African kleptocracy, "pay me €5k to grease the wheels with my friends in the department".

Nope, I'm proud to see Michael D. Higgins as president. As for the rest of your post, sounds like sour grapes ;)
