Fair play to the team of 4 who this event 2 years in a row....Incredible or is it an unbelieveable.... high handicappers that somehow manage to shoot scores that 6 handicappers would be proud of constantly yet they cant cut it in individual singles competitions....Are there heads in the wrong place for singles competitions...don't think so....just a shower of ringers...................
    Its Bullsh1t

Ringers and not at all embarassed by it.Classics and team events with holidays as prizes tend to draw them in.Can't believe clubs turn a blind eye to it.

Really - why is that? None of last years winners were from that particular club and the OP said that it was the same guys who won again this year. Happens in every club from what I see, my own included. Was playing with a local club pro last week who told me about a mate of his who was off a 4 H/C 3 years ago and is now gone out to 9 - all for the purpose of qualifying for the next JP McManus Pro-Am.

It's blatant cheating in my book and the sooner the clubs (ALL clubs) take action against the culprits the better.

I think JCDUB was simply using "Slievenamon" as a verb, think it's come to that unfortunately....

Slievenamon what ..? That dose not make sense ..? Could just as easily say 300 words and list most of the golf clubs in the country. If you were trying to imply something specific about slievenamon, that would make you pretty naive .

What a load of crap.....400 teams play and same team wins 2yrs on bounce....this type of thing really puts me off entering these team comps, soon it will only be the ringers who bother:mad:

If it were me, i would use the opportunity of the prizegiving to make a speech about the ideals of the game. it s the mentality of getting point 1 back that needs changing...i played in a singles stableford and stood on the 18th tee needing a 5 to get inside the buffer zone thereby not getting .1 back and when i said before i hit that i needed a 5, my playing partner said ..no , you need a 6....i said 'why'?.. he said 'for your point one'.........whats the point????????

Excellent point, except this type are not interested in ideals.... only interested in fooling the system.....

I have submitted a motion to the GUI Munster branch for its regional meeting next month to limit the amount of 0.1s any player can get in one year to 20. This was defeated nationally last year (the mind boggles).

I just can't understand this really. Id be proud of having the most low handicap I possibly could, isn't that how other golfers judge you? The first question asked is what do you play off, not what prizes you've won?

Had a quick google, seems like they shot a average of 78 points for the 5 qualifying rounds and 88 in the final nothing mad unless i missed something.

I played in this event. Special mention to the lady in Clare Co Co with endless patience and fantastic information about places to stay in Clare. Wont give her full name her but my thanks to Maureen.

The winners for two years in a row were as follows:

Des O'Brien from Kilrush, don't know his handicap
Sean McGuirk from Limerick, he's off 12.9
Bill Hanley from Charleville, he's off 16.3
    Brendan O'Keeffe, he's off 19.9

There's 10 courses in the tournament and the teams can play each course only once. Each player plays off 3/4 handicap and two scores to count on each hole. They averaged 5 pts per hole. Which is fairly impressive with a 16 and 20 handicapper in the team and the course the final was played was Doonbeg, hardly the most foregiving place for high handicappers.

To be fair, the organisers don't mind/care who wins but it must surely raise eyebrows when theis team wins two years in a row. Bandits/hookies/cheats whatever people call them.

Very disappointing considering the excellent work put into the organising of the competition. I played over most of the courses and found the welcome in all clubs to be excellent, courses in great condition and food and accomodation and friendliness to be superb. I'm arranging another trip back to Clare in February and hopefully the tournament why die a death due to the tarnish that certain types of players who seem to do well in it.

Don't think it will die a death because of the value of the event. Didn't know it was 3/4 handicaps so 90 points would be a great score around Dunbeg. 4 person team event are geared towards high handicappers u are much better off with a high handicapper who shoots 6 pars and 6 scratches.
