Moving to ireland - pay related tax question

    Hi guys,

I'm moving to Ireland for a new job. I have a tax question, mainly cause I don't understand the irish tax system at all nor all the nuances around it.

My main query is around the region of what my take home pay is likely to be (to allow me to sort of pre-emptively budget for things like fuel, rent, heating etc).

My salary is ~ 40K per annum. I am a single guy, no dependents or family etc (so I think I only qualify for the standard single person tax allowance or tax credit or whatever you guys call it). In my head I reckon this will give me about 2500 a month home. Am I being overly generous here or not generous enough?

I know this is not really a subject people like discussing, but just looking a few pointers.

    Cheers!

(Apologies if this is the wrong forum).
