hi lads, heres my problem bought the 05 astra 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks in the coolant light came on brought it back to the garage and they replaced the water pump they said it was leaking,so off i go home, today only 6 days later driving on the motorway the light comes on again pulled in pop the bonnet and white smoke is flying out, the tank with the coolant in it is bubbling like mad so rang the garage and told them come get the car the car is under warranty my worry is how will i know if they propely fix the car this time or just do a slap it together job......they said the fully serviced the car and had it nct when they delivered it first day the guy was inclined to say if it happens again even within my 3 months warranty hes not fixing it his reason,he thinks it was my fault it happened because i didnt pull over quick enough when the coolant light came on the first time when i know did i pulled over whitin 2 mins i drove up and round a roundabout into a drive and stopped,am i entiled to an extended warranty or even my money back the car went back twice whitin having it 3 weeks only.
    thanks again

I think you might do well to post this query in the Motors forum - folks there would have a lot of experience with this sort of situation.

You're entitled to have it fixed. It sounds very much like the HG is gone. To ascertain have they fixed it properly a mechanic would be required really.
They are required to fix this too, the water pump may well have been leaking when you bought the car, realistically it probably was, the previous owner may well have driven with low coolant too.

So to summarise, they repair it, they cover the cost and for peace of mind get an independent mechanic to check it over HG wise once the work is complete. No extended warranty will be gotten off them nor will a refund be in order.

A repaired HG with a new water pump should, if properly done last for years and years and years, it will have to be covered for the remainder of the warranty.
