Good place for a daytime walk on Halloween

I'm hoping to get away this Sunday and/or Monday for a day (and a night out) to go for a walk in a creepy place  during daylight/fading hours and then hopefully have a night on the town afterwards, town or city with good pubs and a decent 'dicco' for fancy dress.
Can't think where to go (especially a place where you won't get family strollers and their unleashed dogs on the loose) - cos that would just take from the eeriness of a situation!

    Anyone suggest a place?
