Do you think ECT should be consigned to the history books?

When you look over the history of mental health, the future isn't as rosy as it's made out to be. "Treatments" such as lobotomy, where icepicks were basically hammered through into the brains of innocent folk in the name of medical narcissism were eventually declared rubbish.

Do you see ECT still being administered in say - 50 years time? Is there any positive data out there to justify the treatment in cases of very severe depression? Will ECT go the way of lobotomy?

Should ECT be scrapped? 6 votes
