Xbox 360 DVD replacement- help needed!

    Hi all,

I took in a friend's Xbox 360 to replace the DVD drive, with the thought in my head that it would be just a straight hardware swap. It has the Philips Liteon drive.

But upon looking at different sites, it seems I'll either need to link the new drive to the motherboard by some means of programming, or else remove the PCB from the old drive and fit it into the new one.

I'd be grateful if someone could give me a guide on how to carry out either of these procedures.

    **N.B**

I have no previous experience either working with or playing the Xbox 360.

    Thanks :)
