If you are caught for speeding, and don't challenge the fine in the District Court, but simply pay the fixed penalty, does this count as a conviction on your record?

What constitutes a "conviction" as envisaged by OP ?

Is there a definition of what constitues a conviction ?

I presume it would require going to court and being conviced of something where the probation act is not applied.

    Grand, that's what I thought.

Would a speeding fine show up on your record? Again I personally doubt it, but could someone clarify it.

I want to prove the naive person who told me it would count as a conviction when going for employment or a visa application that they are WRONG and shouldn't be telling people stuff they don't know.

Yes, but (assuming you paid a Fixed Charge Notice) not as a criminal conviction.
