Perhaps providing the code will help ? ;)

If you really want to know you canc all the helpdesk, they have a list of codes as to why consoles won't update.
It can range from networking issues to banned or tampered consoles.

Yeah, you will have to call in for that I'm afraid.

I have only seen one hit on that on the web - mainly doing the following:

changing connection type - from wireless to wired.
    >>>If wireless - using MS's own antenna instead of a 3rd party (doubt it)
Turning off the fireall on the router
Restarting the 360 and ignoring the prompt to update (first removing any optional USB sticks etc that might be plugged in).
Clearing the cache on the 360
    Re-attempting update
    Turning firewall back on

And even - just doing nothing - trying again a day or two later and it suddenly works.

Think a call to the helpdesk might be the right route as with only one hit the validity of the steps is uncertain...

Have you tried deleting all the system updates and forcing it to re-update, it could help.

There is a way to delete all the system files and forcing it to re-update.

You could try to format the HDD, that could fix a problem if it exists.

I think the software update is corrupted and that's why it's not allowing you to connect to live.

2741 is a connection issue, it means that the ports on your router will need to be opened.

Failing that if you go to www.xbox.com/update and you can manually install from there. :)

finally got the xbox to update what i did was download the update to a usb that worked still couldn't get on to xbox live it was saying update currently unavailable

then i removed fire wall from my computer and my mcfee and that worked

think the main problem might have been i wasn't removing firewall from my mc fee as well
