Hi Lads! I am close in buying a BMW 320d with low mileage however the owner has left to Oz already. Just wondering what legal documents will I be aware of?
    thanks

you probably don't need to be told but make sure there's no money left owing on the finance.....

thanks meditraitor for the quick reply. Done that already as I had checked with motorcheck.ie. Do I need an authorisation to sell from the previous owner?

Pretty sure they have to 'sign' the rear of the log book to transfer ownership.

so it needs to be 'signed' ;)

this is true, if he/she has'nt signed it and they are in OZ, how are you going to get it in your name?

well,I presumed she has signed the logbook before she left. I'm just afraid if they forged it!
Just thinking if I can ring her in OZ and ask for written receipt signed by her and post it thru email. Just wondering. In the states there is a legal document called special power of attorney to sell in behalf of her.
