Insuring an ex-NI import

    My insurance is up for renewal in a few weeks and Im shopping around but it seems most online type brokers/agents/insurers wont insure a car if its imported. Im currently with a broker through work who had no problem with my car being imported from N. Ireland but he seems to be the only one not bothered by it.

    Does anyone know any insurers who will cover an imported car from NI without treating it like something off a ship from the other side of the world? I owned the car in the north for a few years before moving south if that makes any difference.

    ...what they mean by import is usually 'Japanese import' - as they do have oddball parts etc.

    What you have is a std EU car - go back and tell them that.
