I'm not sure I'll get any replies in time to be of help but it's worth a shot.

I'm a student in UL, and I was looking at pay-as-you-go WiFi hubs recently since campus wifi is unreliable and I need to work a lot with my laptop, phone and WiFi iPad.

That said, it wasn't a vital matter until now- I'm heading back to Cork in a few hours, and there's a good chance soon after i get there I'm going to have to check into hospital where I will probably be stuck for another week with tonsillitis. There wasn't wifi the last time I was stuck there which cause me to fall behind a bit, but now I have several online midterm tests and assignments that I need to get done this week.

So, I was thinking since I pass a store from just about every network provider on my way home to cork, I could stop in somewhere and pick up a mobile dongle/hub to keep me connected.

Long story short- can anyone recommend a network (or maybe even a specific data plan or device) that:

    1. Works immediately out of the box- the less hassle the better in this situation, and I can't wait around too long for it to be registered or anything like that in the shop.
    2. Is compatible with Mac OSX
    3. Is Pay as you Go
    4. Gets reception around Cork city and University of Limerick
    5. is affordable enough for a student to use

I need the connection specifically for my laptop so a USB dongle should do the trick. That said, I was planning on getting a Hub to use with my iPad and phone sometime in the future anyway, so I might pick up one of those up if there isn't a massive gap in price between them. Reliability and cost comes before speed in this case.

    Any recommendations?

My Three prepay was turned on the day I bought it but if I remember correctly it was a long wait, a Vodafone bill pay I tested before going with Three bill pay took around two hours to be activated, can't say about their pre pay if they have one.

All of those would be well over a year now, might have reduced the connection times.
