Thinking about this as well for next year but have loads of questions

    1) how many acres would i need for 100 weanling?
    2) how many round bales would i need to go with it for the 100
    3) Is there much difference between kale and Rape? Rape is latter sowing i believe so that would suit us better
    4) how did kale/Rape get on last year in the snow?
    5) any other pros and cons i should know about?

    thanks

Hi OP I've 4 ac of kale with 20 bbs on it. 20 cows and 20 heifer weanlings going into it in the next wk. Will gradually pull the cows out of it over the winter and I hope the weanlings will be on it till end of january. Did a similiar size paddock last yr and I drove out with a grab of maize silage to them during the frost.

It is a hugry crop, likes potash, not really sure how much you'd need for 100 weanlings, but if you allow 2% of their live weight in kgs dm of feed per day it would be a good start. Google cotswold seeds, lots of info there.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
