I assume you are in Sligo, what do you mean by "channle south", it is not a Saorview Chanel..

Channel South' is a cable television channel operating in Cork, Limerick, and parts of County Kerry, County Waterford, County Clare and South Tipperary
says wikipedia - are you in Clare - on cable or maybe MMDS??
    Do you have an aerial?

Channel South is cable only. Make sure you are using a UHF aerial pointed at your local transmitter.

If you are in Sligo, you should have your aerial pointing at Truskmore.

You're most likely plugging your UPC cable connection into the TV. This won't work, you need a UHF aerial.
