What brand is it? Are you using compatibles? Has it been left for a long time without use? Have ink cartidges been left out of the socket for a long ammount of time?
If its been a while since you used it, steam can sometimes unclog a ink cartridge head. To do this get a bit of kitchen towel, fold it and boil a kettle, when the kettle boils hold the cartidge under the steam then dab the cartidge into the kitchen towel.
Repeat two or 3 times and try the ink again.
If your using compatibles or refilled ink, they just may not be compatible with the printer. Epsons are a b*stard for this if you use the wrong generation of inks for your printer.
If a ink cartidge has been left out of the slots for a considerable time, ink may have dried up and damaged the printer. If your ink runs out you should never remove the ink even if its empty.

Sorry forgot to say what brand im so annoyed at it haha. Its a HP Deskjet 1600series. I only use the proper ink cartridges in it. I managed to get some ink on paper now test page came out perfect but when I tried printing a few sentences from the internet some the lines were missing?

The test page printed correctly but the internet content does not? Hmm sounds weird, what happens if you try to print a Word document?

did you do the test page directly from the printer? if so and it came out fine then i wouldnt say its a problem with the ink or printer.try restarting the print spooler and make sure your driver is upto date.
