Might be in the wrong forum, but this film is RTE 2 right now and there are about 14 guys sitting in the bomb bay of the F-117, argument instantly broke out here cause I don't believe there would be that much space in there?

Anybody got any idea to put this straight?

I think they might fit, but they wouldn't be alive. :)

And the reality vs fantasy only gets worse as the film goes on.

However this flick is notable for possibly the funniest movie star death to my knowledge (close competition would be Brad Pitt in 'Meet Joe Black')

[totally off topic]Nooooo...... Brad Pitt wins!!!

I remember seeing that in the cinema with my then girlfriend.

When pitt got killed a;; the lads in the cinema were laughing away and the girls were sitting there with their hands to their mouths in shocked silence

My first view of that scene was in a pub at home (think Cheers, but in Ulster) barman flicking through the channels, this film is on, 1 guy tells him to stay on it, about 20 guys looking at what we thought was an idiot, 5 mins later.....
    .....funniest moment in cinema!

Well that fairly quashes that ridiculous argument, 1-0 to me.

So what other films spring to mind that have glaring aviation mistakes?

Top Gun is probably full of them, but the one that stands out is when the take the picture of the Mig (F-5) upside down, ridiculous!

    Iron Eagle 2.

    Mig 29 Fulcrums = F4 Phantoms

They are also portrayed as single seaters.

This is my favourite piece of crap production in aviation related films. F-4 doesn't even resemble any other aircraft.

Didn't they use F-5s as the 'Mig's' in Top Gun? At least they were an export aircraft so not in the mainstream US inventory.

    FireFox was pretty bad too.

I think they used Kfirs as Mig 23's too....

Die Hard 2 is full of errors. Manhole covers in the middle of a runway,a 747 on a seemingly endless take-off roll at the end, terrorists changing sea level on the ILS,lighting Jet A-1 on fire with a zippo.

    Still a great film though.:)

Castaway where tom hanks is dropped off at the airport and he walks under the barrier to get to the plane:eek:, Then the plane he boards is an A300 while the one that crashes is an MD11.

Die Hard where a 20 stone black guy has no effect on a 747 engine on take-off! :)

thats not too far fetched the rpm on that is huge. sure look at the video of the test for the A380 throwing a blade they put explosives on the blade to let it detach. the engine keeps going no major damage. so a human body would just disintegrate.

Yet a few ducks can cause an aircraft to crash?

Actually that test was to see whether a catastrophic engine failure would be contained within the engine pod.

That engine was scrap metal after that test. (E20M a pop those things)
