My brother is doing his own service on a 02 Hiace and is wondering how to knock off the service light. Cheers.

I would dare say the reason is that he is selling it on and would like the service to be recognised. Assuming everything is above board, naturally.

A bit of stumbling around the internet gives me this answer for a different vehicle in the range, but I hope it's of some use:

"with the car key on ACC, set your odometer on mileage(not trip a or b) then turn ket off. then hold they button that switchs from odo and trip, then turn the key back to acc. while you are holding it down you will notice the maintenance light blink and go out. and then you are done."

A 02 van , if the service light is the difference between somebody buying a 02 van and not then the buyer shouldn't be buying a 02 van.

I agree, but like I said, so long as everything is above board. Perhaps he wants to make sure he gets reminded of when to service his Van? I'm going with the benefit of doubt here.

Well on the off chance they took my advice then they would have to do no more and the thread would end so very worthwhile but its nice to that you took the time to enhance the thread with a solution to the persons initial question so I wonder whose contribution was less worthwhile mine or yours?

It may be possible to take out the bulb that lights this warning light, if you take it out you will never have to worry about it again. I take it you dont have a full service history, if so you could ruin it.

    Hope it helps

Jesus lads maybe the OP serviced their van and wants the light off, whats the problem with the year or reason behind it??

Anyway, to answer, remove the rubber grommet from the top left of the dials and use a screw driver or something similar to press the button behind it for a couple of seconds and it should go out.

Clearly a nice day for a good trolling then, eh?

To all you non-contributing trolls, the van was just purchased by my brother (Trade Sale) He is reasonably mechanically minded but has no interest in chasing up information on forums such as this and dosn't have the workshop manual. He may be also looking for PC diagnostics, adaptor etc for the same van

02 van not worth bothering with??? I thought all that spassyness died with the celtic pussycat. I drive a 98, and I still want all the lamps out on the dash - I've newer too, up to 08, but I'd never knock a van on its age, old age just means the guy driving has it paid for.

As for the others arguing off topic leave it out. Anymore off topic posts will get infractions.
