If you could have a 'groundhog year', what year would it be and why?

As in, if you could relive a particular year over and over again (like the movie Groundhog Day, except a year) what year would it be and why?

For me it would be the year I was in Singapore, '07-'08.
I had a p1ss easy job and got paid a boat load for it.
I made loads of new friends and had a great social life and since Singapore is a great hub city I did lots of travelling around those parts.

Now I'm out of a job, broke, all my mates either work and have no time or are broke like me, and I'm stuck in Dublin. :'-(

    I wouldn't have a groundhog year,

But I'd have a groundhog summer 2009 in san francisco, 23rd birthday in 2010 and possible oxegen and electric picnic 2011.

Oh and an 18th birthday all over again because that was a right laugh :D

But fear not, there will be more groundhog moments to come!

Year just before I moved to Germany. Lived with good friends, and almost everyone else lived nearby. Was making great money, had a brilliant apartment and generally one of the best years of my life despite itching to get out of Ireland.

Now nearly everyone's gone off on their separate ways and we have to meet up in exotic locations like Portugal for birthdays and whatnot to be together. How tiresome... :P

I'd re-live March, 1999. I got off with Louise Corrigan at a school disco. She was, and probably still is, really hot.

Louise, if you're reading this, holla at me!

I want to be 20 again.

Just to be afforded the luxury of living life with a sense of optimism

If I had to, I'd live last summer on a loop. I started to enjoy life a lot more and became more confident in myself. Good times.

I read about a bizarre case of a Japanese man who suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy, he tried to commit suicide, the reason he gave was he was having a ground hog life, he claimed to have lived the same life repeating itself exactly 1000s of times and by committing suicide he thought he could break the cycle.

As for me hopilly next year will be the year I would like ground hogged. I have never had a perfect year, just happy ones.

Any year from 1970 to 1980. I was a small child. I believed in Santa ( and he believed in me ). Everything was done for me, I was fed

    Brought out on exciting trips

Did'nt have to worry about money

Could stuff my face with phantoms, fizzle sticks, black jacks and fruit salads and never had to worry that it would go straight to my arse.

I was planning on getting married to David Soul ( oh that car)

Life was sweet and care free.

Now ? its all quite the opposite.

Davids not looking great though so that was a lucky escape !

    1776.

We'd chased away the redcoats and were creating a new beginning, what a grand year it was.

I'd probably relive 6th year again so I could do better in my exams and maybe get a more fufilling course. Who am I kidding... I'd probably spend the year **** and playing video games all day.

    September-December 2009

First term of first year at university. First time I moved away from home. Went out practically every night, flatmates all got on and were all sound. Had to do pretty much no work. Spent my days out drinking, doing mad shtuff and at Old Trafford watching United. Good days

August 08-August 09 when I lived in Germany. I did a lot of stupid things, but it was so much fun.

That's mad i'd pick the same August 08 - August 09, I was on a great streak of luck during that year I won some money on the lotto, then I won a holiday to New York, somewhere I had always wanted to go but it just never seemed to happen. My sister got married and had a baby so there was lots of excitement besides everything else. Its the last time I really remember being happy, like grinning like an idiot happy.

1999 - because of all the partying I did.

Or 2001 - that was some odyssey.

Definitely the year I was 23.

The start wasn't great as I found out my ex was a lying cheating b******d

    But the plusses were:

Ireland (Cricket) beat Pakistan and got through to the super 8s and I was there to see it.
Got a job in Science after working in Ladbrokes for a few months.
    Got a car
Joined a gym and kept losing loads of weight and was super fit. Was a member of North County and was playing loads of cricket which I really really miss right now.

And the best thing and if I only had one thing to do all over again, it was the summer I met my lovely and current and forever man. Drogheda was a brilliant place to be in summer 2007 and I had money to spend going out and doing things. Went to Majorca with the beau and had a blast. Got a pay rise at the end of the year and a promotion. Definitely the best year of my life.

Before that it was when I was 16 and only because of reasons put previously, not a care in the world in Transition year, earning loads of money in a local pub, going out drinking with the girls. yeah but 23 still tops it.

for me it would have to be either

2002 - being 15, kinda starting out properly in my teenage life, and my best school year.

    or

2007 - my best year in college
(nonstop party), and i loved all of college so thats saying something

    or

2008/2009/2010 and the first part of 2011 - first relationship/love, always feeling happy, it was just great to me tbh

1993- for being young, having a sense of youth and invincibility, and having lots of crazy fun.

Also, the year I first laid eyes on Mrs Duckjob and she said yes to going out on a date with me.
