Cavan’s Lisa O’Neill is rapidly emerging as one of the truest contemporary Irish folk voices – unashamedly true to her roots and with a voice so distinctive you might only fail to recognize it if Stevie Nicks ever relocated to Cavan to front a Luke Kelly tribute band. Lisa’s voice has a unique timelessness to it and is delivered with such convincing aplomb that it’s sometimes it’s hard to believe that it’s emerging from one so young.

Lisa O’Neill will perform her second proper headline show at Whelan’s on October 28th following her sold out show at the Grand Social last April as well as extensive touring in the U.S. and Britain with international star songwriter David Gray.

Lisa sings brilliantly swarthy folk songs full of humour and tenderness with a great Cavan twang. She has turned heads at the Electric Picnic, Hard Working Class Heroes, Ones to Watch festival and opening slots for Mick Flannery, Adrian Crowley and Pete Molinari to name a few. She was personally invited to open and perform onstage with David Gray on his recent Lost & Found tour.

Lisa O'Neill started writing songs and music at an early age in her native Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan. She moved to Dublin, aged 18, to study music on a full time basis. Early on she was welcomed into the folk and trad scene in pubs and clubs around the city where her singular voice and witty lyrics and observations on modern Irish life gained her popularity and set her apart as a unique talent.

Her independently released & rather wonderful debut album, functionally titled "Has an Album" was launched in August 2009

Lisa was listed in the Irish Times culture supplement as an act to watch in 2011 and recently appeared with her band on "Other Voices 2011". She is currently working on new material for her second album
