click start > control panel > network and internet connection

then click network connections down the bottom right

right click local area connection and click properties

it should open up a window with a scrollable box in the middle

scroll down the box until you get to the bottom that says
    Internet protocol(TCP/IP)

left click Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) once to highlight it and then click the properties button just underneath it and to the right

it will open a new window

click the radio button to select "USE THE FOLLOWING IP ADDRESS"
You will then boot up your daughters laptop and navigate to the same screen and copy all the numbers.
The ONLY number you will change is in the first field called "IP ADDRESS"
in this field there are four sections seperated by a decimal point.
Copy the first 3 fields of your daughters IP ADDRESS but in the last section change it to 8.

    For example:
Your daughters IP ADDRESS might be 192.168.1.3
so you copy the first 3 fields but change the last like this 192.168.1.8

The subnet mask field, Default gateway field, prefferd DNS field and alternate DNS fields will all be identicle to your daughters.

Let me know how you get on or if your confused by anything ;)
