myself and herself (both late 20's) are heading to Paris Dec 28th for 3 days and nights, the morning of the 31st we are getting the high speed to brussels and we're wondering which would be better for NYE, Bruges or stay in Brussels.

we fly home from Brussels on the night of the 1st.

anyone been to either for NYE or in general, we like the idea of Bruges for NYE, but neither of us have been to either before, so we're worried Bruges wont have much to do in it?

    cheers

    Rob

It was just a reference to the film "In Bruges".

However, I've been to Brussels and there's lots to do there and is very lively.

I've been told Bruges is a little more relaxed and more scenic.

THink it depends on what you're looking for.

Bruges is lovely, though it might be a bit quieter than Brussels for NYE.
Plus if you're hungover on the 1st at least you wouldn't have to try to get from Bruges back.

Bruges is very scenic and should be very atmospheric for a New Year's stay. I lived in Brussels previously for 7 months, and while Brussels has more going on, Bruges is quieter and would look amazing if the weather was cold and frosty.

I was lucky enough to get back to Bruges recently on a corporate junket, and we stayed at the Hotel Montanus - which was beautiful & very calm
