    i know this is an old topic and im new to boards so i dont know what im at,but i got a package shipped to me from america i had the tracking number and the last update was it was in ireland but that was 2 days ago and i still didnt get it plus i dont know who will be delivering it to me i called an post but it wasnt on their system i entered the tracking number in dhl an post ups fed ex gls fastway citypost and i am getting nothing can anyone tell me why this is or what could i do as i feel im out of option.thanks any posts appreciated

    You could ask hte seller/shop where they sent it. I have found DHL numbers often do not work, they sometimes have too many or too little digits, I have rang them and the guy says "oh you drop this and that and add on a digit/letter" as though everybody should know.

    I just ignore tracking now, its like watching a kettle boil. It could take several days once in Ireland, if it is liable for VAT/duty it could take a while to process it.

    thanks for the quick responce rubadub my driend sent it its just some clothes so it shouldnt be liable for tax or anything would it,so you think it shouldnt get lost and it will get to me yes?

    Clothes could be liable, I know a guy who got a tatty looking "christmas jumper" off ebay and was charged VAT, you are liable if worth over €22, or €45 if it is a genuine gift. If there was no declaration of value or customs slip on the package it could cause further delays.

    when i lived there for a few years i sent clothes over to friends loads of times stuff that u cant get here in ireland and i never had problems in that regard if its a gift why would they charge,i shall wait and see but thanks for your help

    If gifts were exempt then every business would be just claiming they are sending gifts!

    Where are you tracking it from now? The site you're currently using may be able to tell you who delivers it in Ireland.

    hi jor, i was tracking it on the usps website where it says

    Arrival at Transit Office From Exchange


    October 25, 2011, 11:10 am


    IRELAND


    International Parcels and thats it since 2 days

    When was it posted? Anytime I have seen transit office of exhange (normally with china/hk post) normally means the item is still in that country being passed between distribution centres, when it is received in Ireland it changes to arrived at destination country.

    If it was sent usps its most likely going to come through anpost too.
