    Hey guys,
Just passed my driving test and I'm looking to get my first car now. I'm 19, a student and I'm looking for a car for around 4000 euro and was wondering what you guys would recommend? I have about 2 years of named driver experience just never got around to booking my test till now.

Gonna be doing around 500 miles a week ,( Round trip Dublin to Galway and general use in Galway on the weekends) so I thought a diesel would be the best option . Cruise control would be great too for the motorways.

I'd like something would a bit of poke if possible? Been looking at VW golf mark 4 and 5's and BMW 320d's (unsure how realistic this is though).

    Any opinions? Thanks :D

have a house in Dublin and I've used the bus for the past year but I'll be transporting heavy stuff up and back from galway every week this year so its just too much hassle, and I need a car for Galway because there is virtually no public transport where I live.

Thanks for the advice though, have a bit of money set aside for insurance as well.

Have you got insurance quotes for the cars you are looking at? I think you will find that 2 years named driving experience on a learner permit is virtually worthless.
