USB MEMORY STICK PROBLEMS

    Usb memory stick wont open keep getting message "you need to format disk before you can use it " was working ok yesterday and now 2nd memory stick with same problem.. would it be my laptop causing problems & is there anyway possible to retreive important documents from one of these

    ..theres plenty of software recovery programs out there anyways. So long as you dont reformat it id imagine it will be likely enough to recover all the data.

    Have a google around, cant remember what I used for recovery.

    Must admit i have just pulled them out of a few occasions will have a look on google.

    Thats why it happened, if a program is writting to a USB key and you yank it out mid sequence more often than not it will corrupt. By ejecting it you ensure it is not in use or available for use, just format the key and safely eject in future ;) . You can try using PhotoRec to recover files off it prior to formatting!
