Fiat Brava 1.2 Stuttering?

My brother has a 01 Fiat Brava 1.2. It drives fine but when he presses down on the accelerator there is a slight stutter which gets worse as you press it, if he backs off then it settles down again.

We have checked the Oil, Air Filter, Coolant and all are at proper levels and clean. Also we pulled each Spark plug lead out and each plug is clean, i.e. no oil leakage etc.

Any ideas what we could check next?

Most likely a misfire, coilpack or plug lead.

Ok cheers, will get a new set of HT leads first and try that.

I'd try the coil pack first, quite common.

If the coil pack is working no need to replace it. HT leads break down internally over the years, replacing them is a good start. Budget €55 for a set

Replacing the upstream lambda sensor can cure this. If confident, disconnect the battery, take off the tb and clean it
