Went out to move my car a while ago, started it up and the engine vibrated like mad, I switched it off after 4-5 secs just in case it had piddled out all it's oil since I checked it 2days ago. Turned on the ignition, everything lit up but did not go out, checked the oil, lots of oil. Went to start it again....as soon as I did, everything went dead, no lights no starter motor nothing.
Did the usual trick and disconnected the battery for a few mins , connected it....nothing. About 20 seconds later, lights came back on. Started the engine, it vibrated slightly more than usual but then smoothened out.

    Any ideas?
The battery has one of those viewing things that let's you know if the battery is still good by way of a green dot...black being that it's fooked, this dot is green.

I dunno is your Astra on coils or a coil or what but it sounds like the king lead being t0ssed (intermittently) on an older car. I reckon it's ignition related, sorry for the vagueness though. Could be dampness but we haven't had much down here. Although everything going dead suggests a wiring issue, possibly a bad earth.

Possibly RJ. Hopefully it'll start up ok in the morning. It sounded like the engine was self-destructing when I started it first!
