Just wondering do they check the alignment etc of lights in NCT...Keeps getting flashed...Only guess is that there not correctly aligned because all the bulbs are fine.

Yes, they do. One of the first things that are tested, directly after the emissions test.

If you keep getting flashed, then get it sorted sooner rather than later, it's dangerous and stupid to keep driving around with misaligned lights

Get them aligned NCT or not its very dangerous, blinding people on the road will cause an accident sooner or later!

Get it done professionally, if you do it yourself it can still be off.
About 20/25 but cheaper than a retest...

Out of curiosity how does one do the alignment themselves. Never had the need to do it myself.

Get somone to check your bulbs before you go to a garage with the problem.
Cheaper option would be to just change the bulbs and make sure they are sitting in the housing correctly. That tends to be the issue most times or a twin end bulb having both elements touching and lighting at the same time.
Otherwise place like Fast Fit or First Stop centres have the equipment and qualified people to check your lights.

Drive to your nearest topaz station, they all should have 'equipment' (if you'd call it that) for testing the alignment of the lights

Have a look at http://www.ehow.co.uk/way_5939509_diy-headlight-alignment.html and there's clips on youtube.

Typical. Wait till an NCT looms to check your car out even knowing you are being a nuisance on the roads with your lights.

The last part of this is important. I changed all my bulbs when one went, but then failed the NCT because the clip holding one was not quite snapped into place. One tap with a screwdriver to push the clip home and it passed the resit no problem.
