Hi, I got 430 points in my leaving cert. I started nursing in Trinity but I hate it. I hate Dublin. I want to get out of it. I was just wondering does anybody know about transferring to another university for year 2 or to repeat first year in a different college even though i didnt get enough CAO points? Please help me. I really want to go to UCC but i missed out by 10 points.

You need to check with the admissions office of the uni you want to transfer into. IF you pass first year and IF they see significant overlap with what a first year in their course would study, they MIGHT accept you as a transfer student into year two. If they don't and you have to go into first year you need to do another CAO application in January.

I'm almost certain that your CAO points will count even in transfers until you become a mature student, then they're pretty much void. Send the admissions office of the college you want to transfer to an email.

They'll take them into account all right but if the courses are similar enough and you finish first year they may be more interested in first year results.
