Pre-ordered the iPhone 4S 16GB yesterday morning. Went for the Smart Plus 55 plan for €55 per month and got a confirmation email soon after.

Just got a call from Meteor customer care saying they got the plan wrong and it should be €60 per month instead!! Big bloody oversite, they offer me €10 quid off my first bill as a consultation.

Can they do this? Also noticed there plans are now €60 on the site.

Been discussed here before, apparently they owe you nothing and are fully in their rights to put up the price because it was a mistake on the site and you haven't actually formed a contract yet.

I think that, legally, they are able to do this. However, I'd have thought that (as a gesture of goodwill) they'd have let those that ordered when the pricing was incorrect have it at that price. That doesn't appear to be the case.

Anyone that buys an iPhone on those plans is mad - especially those upgrading from an iPhone 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is available on Tesco Mobile (which shares networks with O2) for free on an 18 month contract at €55 per month with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 2GB data.

So, for the same monthly cost, you've 6 months less contract, 600 extra minutes, 600 extra texts but 3GB less data - 2GB would be sufficient for the vast majority of people.

Yes thought that might be the case. Good way to turn away new customers

Just got offered the same 10er off my first bill. They told me that only a handful of customers were affected, so Meteor are looking to rectify their mistake very cheaply. I bought in good faith at 40 euro (probably would not have bought at 45 TBH).

They are not obliged to honour it by law. But wasn't there something on Joe Duffy a while back about some ski holiday that was sold for 90 euro, but it should have been 900 euro. I think the company had to honour the 90 euro.

I told him to send me out the contract anyway, I might take it and it'll give me some time to look at the other offerings.

Wait and see what Three will offer - then see will Meteor budge on the price for you ;)

I'm guessing you're not obliged to proceed at the higher cost either, so would you not just walk away and have a look at the others when they release pricing? Might not work out cheaper but sure you can always go back to Meteor if there's nothing better.

Yep that's my option, they are eager though. I told them to post out the contract with the 10 euro off and I'd consider it. Told them I'd wait and see what others had to offer. They were eager, not only did they email it to me, but they phoned me to tell me they emailed it to me. Have to send it back in 3 days though.

The other network plans should be released on Friday so 3 days is fine - they're not going to ring you if you send it next week and say "we didn't receive your contract within 3 days so we don't want you to sign a 24 month contract with us"... :D
