    Hi,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge not only in this matter but with regards how these forums work.

I am desperate for some help on this matter and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. This is probably totally in the wrong forum. Please help.

My 80-year-old uncle, born and bred in Dublin, moved to Boston in his mid-20s. his wife has in recent years passed away and he is bored to almost death in Boston. he really wants to move back to Dublin to be nearer his family.

Can anybody help me with regards care homes or apartments with assisted living that he may be entitled to to? Or how best we can get him home to Dublin and looked after?

    Many thanks,

    Have a look here: http://www.hse.ie/eng/Links/Links_by_Topic/Elderly_Links/

The HSE have quite a lot of information & links for various services & options for care for the elderly. That would be a good place to start.

If you contact them & ask to speak to someone dealing with services for the elderly, they would be able to give more tailored advice taking his personal circumstances into account.

Perhaps contact this organisation as well:

Safe home is a very good organisation helping emigrants relocate to Ireland. They deal mostly with >60s and obviously immigrants who have been away for years have to satisfy habitual residence criteria if they need to claim benefits in Ireland but once they have the help of this organisation re-locating and finding accomadation there should be no problem with HRC as social welfare recognises the work done by this organisation.
