Rent Tax Credit

    Hi Guys,

Recently completed my Rent1 form for two tax periods - November and December of 2010, and January to November of 2011.

Revenue reverted advising they were arranging a refund for the period November & December 2010 and issuing an amended TC Cert for 2011 -

I have one question concerning the Tax Clearance Cert - Is this sent by the revenue to my employer and then reflected in my remaining 2011 paycheques? Or this amendment reflected in the next paycheque to bring the credits up to date?

Would have preferred a flat refund from the revenue to avoid messing about with our payroll guys, hope someone can clarify

    Many thanks in advance,

    O

I say TC Cert is a Tax Credit Cert. It's up to your employer to how he or she applies it, but the chances are that it would be fully reflected in your next pay cheque.

Alternatively, you could contact the Revenue and ask them not to issue a new TC cert and claim the refund post year-end. I know its done by many as a sweetener / money saving tool!!
