Can someone help me to do this... What I do is type the data connection number which is *#*#4636#*#* I then go into phone information where you can enable or disable your data connection..Unfortunately at times it can enable itslef. This can be a disaster..I would use no data usage during the whole day saving my 69cent (Im meteor)..all of a sudden the data connection would be enable at 11 or half 11 or whatever and basically I am paying 69cent for 30 mins or so..Does this happen to anyone else...Is there any other app that does it properly.I would save a lot of money if i could turn it off..There is wifi in college and wifi at home... By the way my phone is a samsung europa...I would appreciate it if someone could answer this problem for me...

If I do this do I still need to disable the connection.

I think so, as you'll still be on GPRS / EDGE as opposed HSDPA.

This is otherwise known as the 2g/3g "fix" for battery problems in some areas. Limiting it to 2g only means that the phone won't try to access 3g if available or even switching between the two if the signal is borderline between the two.

I think the settings I stated above will stop apps and services connecting in the background.

If you really want to be sure to stop applications accessing data you can edit the Access Point so that it can't connect. There are some apps that do this too. They rename the AP when you click the button to enable/disable data.
