Did it cross your mind to try and find the owner?

Maybe you'd consider contacting the network to help them get their phone back?

Imagine how you would feel if you lost your expensive smartphone.
I'm not your moral guardian, but it is the right thing to do. I would help, but I think you should really attempt to give the phone back.

I found a car earlier, anyone know where I could get a key cut for it? ;-)

Why are these shops allowed to assist criminals in making phones sellable? Aren't they technically handling stolen goods - akin to parting out stolen cars?

OP contact the network and get the phone back to its owner if you feel like it - otherwise look it up online it's not that complicated

You'll be glad to hear that because it's an iPhone, as soon as it's reported as missing/stolen, it will be disconnected from the network and its IMEI barred, so no matter what network you try to connect it to, it won't work.

Why don't you do the decent/right thing and either try to find the rightful owner, or hand it in to the cops?

i heard that before alright but apparently there's ways to run fake imei's to make the phone work again :)

You found it,took it and if you don't make at least an attempt to return it you are stealing it.

If you keep it you stole it... surely you can understand that?

Keeping it is theft, there is no 'finders keepers' law, apart from in maritime law, but I doubt the library was at the bottom of the ocean, was it?

The charter for this forum is against illegal acts, and this is verging in that.

Sure, you may not have stole it (which would be illegal), but you have made no efforts to return it, and have attempted to keep it yourself, but is not illegal- just morally wrong and selfish.

You're toeing the line here, if I may say so myself. You should consider returning it, it's not that hard to find the owner. They can just use Find my iPhone. Or block it.
