The more new threads with poster on their first few posts attacking candidates. I'm sure there will be several more tomorrow.

If these people arent paid, I dont know what they are doing. Everyone knows what they will vote now, so who do they think they will fool?

Yes I gave my opinion on Higgins at the weekend, I wont vote for him and dont like him, I didnt just sign up to post that though and its a bit foolish for some of these hacks to think they will fool people this late in the day.

Perhaps a paid hack would make a handful of posts before getting down to the business at hand. In fact there are stories that companies generate accounts and automatically create a posting history before selling the account on to an organisation which wants a bunch of sock puppets to manipulate opinion. Half the posts in AH could be generated by a bot in my opinion.

With regard to the new accounts posting about the election is seems much more likely to me that someone decides to go on the internet to inform themselves and reads something so outrageously ludicrous (for example someone claiming that Higgins is as much a Fianna Fail agent as Gallagher) that they are spurred to create an account and start posting.

Didn't you just join in August? WHat's your point?

I saw another thread on here about pots and kettles.

Yes- it mocks any semblence of fair discussion. But what could be done about it? People know that anyone can log on and it would be remiss of the candidates to not have people log in to push them.

Not that I'm accusing you of mendacity, but astroturfing is paid for by companies, political groups tend to get it for free because their adherents believe.
