    Hi all,

My Cateye Velo 8 Computer has stopped working. The main unit is working so it must be the sensor. I only noticed it tonight when cleaning the bike. I had to wade through floods last night on my way home. Could this have affected it I didn't notice it in the dark. I tried cleaning the magnet and reciever but to no avail.

    Any ideas? Thanks. WA

check the contacts under the main unit. if they get wet, they "short out". Dry the main untit with a cloth and dry out the contacts on the handlebar bracket. might sort it.

also, make sure the wheel magnet is close enough to the sensor

Thanks Lapierre. I did dry them as best I could. I also left the bike beside a radiator inside tonight to help dry any remaining moisture. (Mrs WA is seriously unimpressed!).

Should the maget be aligned with the thinner part of the sensor or the thicker part and is 2mm about right?

2mm sounds right. go to the cateye website and download the instruction manual for the velo8. it should tell you exactly where the magnet should be aligned.

if that doesn't work...well xmas is coming up and a Garmin 800 is nice!:D
