Watching Television in Irland

    Hey,

I am from germany and I am intersted in watching TV in my accomondation. My main problem is, that I am only for a few months here in Irland. So it is not possible to enter any long contracts.

In Germany we can watch the main programmes with the DVB-T technologie (for free). Is here in Irland a similar technologie available? (I only want to have a few programmes.) If there is one, what do I need for that?

    Thanks in advance.

(Sorry if the question is already answered, but I didn't found anything.)

DVB-T does exist and gives the main Irish channels for free. You will need an MPEG-4 compatible receiver to view them.

If you have a laptop you can buy dvb-t usb device on the buy in coins website.it takes a week or 2 to get here but works very well.

Just switch on the t.v and you get 4 of the Irish channels.

Feckn Germans, already running our finances, and our weather forecasting.. now they want to take control over the telly.. ;)

Seriously though, I have a DVB-T TV tuner same as yourself.. I have the one that slots in to the PC (PCI version) as opposed to the USB ones.. If you got the USB stick, like below..

just be careful with it... the coax cable puts pressure on the thing and pulls at the USB connection.. Mine eventually broke because of this.. (which is when I why I decided on the non USB version).. The fact that you have an Electronic Program Guide means that you can record stuff to your hard drive as well... really handy..
