    Hi,
One day I tried turning on my ipod and it wouldnt work, charged it, still no joy. hooked it upto laptop and itunes didnt recognise it. So put it into disk mode and tried restoring, but this error keeps popping up!

Tried restoring it on 2 other laptops, no joy. Tried reinstalling iTunes, tried on different user account on the laptop still no luck.

Anyone know a way to fix it or are its days over?

    Cheers,
    Steve

That's usually a dead hdd afaik
Have you tried DFU mode to restore?
Its nearly cheaper to buy a new one than replace the HDD
