Hello folks. If I could get some opinions on a specfic tablet, I would be very appreciative. The model in question is the A1CS X220 v2 listed here on Amazon. There aren't many reviews as it is an updated version of the original model, but there is a good one here.

Plus points would be the battery life of 3 to 8 hours depending on function, a multi touch capacitive screen, x2 USB slots, x2 micro SD slots, a customised holder with USB keyboard can be purchased, and very good customer service.

Minus points would be that it is a single processor, android market place is free apps only, Andriod 2.2, price.

My main reason for looking at one now is to update my 4 year old's portable DVD player, and while I can get one for €80 or so that can play AVI files, I thought I'd go that little bit further and get a tablet that can do it and allow me to surf while at home, or read some ebooks.

My only question other than advice sought is if I can't purchase apps via the marketplace, can you just buy directly from a site or do the apps have to come through the marketplace? I don't see myself using the tablet for many other functions then those stated above, maybe some angry birds or other games, so If anyone has anything to add that I may of missed, I would be grateful.

If you root this would you be able to install all apps then? I know you can get apps which installs apps from the sd card also... (i have one on the zte blade) again I don't know if that would work? maybe somebody could help! Was thinking of getting the first version until I saw the resistive screen so thanks for pointing this one out.

I wasn't much help to you really! How do you plan on getting it delivered (market place only deliver to uk...) is it sold anywhere else?

This is a far better tablet imo for a similar price

Ah, thats right. The old market place issue. I have emailed them to see how else I can buy it. After checking it seems it comes from China which means 1. They should not have an issue selling to here and 2. it could be liable to import taxes.

I had a look at one the other day in Tesco and wasn't entirely gone on it, yet if the price had remained on HMV I would have bitten.

Ah too bad. that one looks like it only supports android 2.2 which will not let you use skype. I'm thinking of getting it for my mother for x-mas so she can skype the brothers in oz and us.

Flytouch seems like a runner but they are resistive screens.

Are you sure 2.2 doesn't support skype? I had skype on my 2.2 stock desire last year and I used skype via wifi on holidays in Croatia.
