I think I've had it with Firefox.

It starts off okay but after a couple of hours it uses 65% of the 1GB of RAM on my net-book and gets all jerky and slow. I don't want to add RAM as it kinda defeats the purpose of having a net-book.

I investigated what it might be, cleaned cookies, disabled add-ons etc to no avail.

When I close the Firefox window it continues to run in the background for a number of minutes at 65% RAM. I have to go into task manager to shut it off.

    Samsung NC10
    1.6ghz Atom
    1GB Ram
    Windows XP
    Avira Free AV
    Zone Alarm Free Firewall

Should I just ditch F.Fox and get used to another browser or is there something I'm missing?

Problem is, all browsers will start leaking memory if you've got a few tabs open and you're looking at a few flash heavy pages for a few hours. Try another browser all the same though.

I don't see how adding ram defeats the purpose of having a net book.. ram is really cheap these days.

Just getting used to Chrome now. Seems way faster on first impressions.

It won't last ;) Keep addons away and you'll be fine probably, I have a that exact netbook and went from Firefox to Chrome then back to Firefox! As said above its best to limit web browsers on slower hardware to only a few tabs, each tab that opens eats into the memory
