Restricted bike2work scheme

I was going to buy a new bike from chainreactioncycles.com because I had heard that the store participates in the government bike scheme and I could get a nice discount.

However, when I asked my HR department of how to proceed with the purchase they advised me that I'm restricted to buy the bike from one of the shops in the raleigh2work.ie voucher program only.

There are 190 irish shops that participate in that voucher program, but most of them are small shops that offer MUCH higher prices than chainreactioncycles.com and that don't offer the same range of bikes.

Is there a way that I can buy the bike from chainreactioncycles.com and apply for the scheme or am I restricted to what my company says?

    Thanks

The phrase "the store participates in the government bike scheme" is not meaningful, since bikes can be purchased from any shop in the world (in theory, accounting issues aside).

In any case you're stuck with whatever supplier restrictions your company chooses, since it's the company that makes the purchase.

You're pretty much stuck with whatever arrangments the employer wants to make - if you could find some reason that would benefit your employer from going to CRC that might work.
