Help me find a car for 3K please !!

Hi Lads,

it's time to retire the beemer and get something else that ins't as expensive to repair.

2.5 -3k to spend..

Wish list:


1.6 (1.8 at a push but not lower than 1.6)
Lowish milleage (think around 54 k to 64 but lower the better)
4 door 5 door
NCT ( has to have NCT for as long as possible)
Tax (always nice to have but willing to get new)
Trade in would make things easier.

Going on last nights flood maybe a truck is in order.

Anything you spot would be great as I have keep finding the same ones..so thought i ask for the help of the boardsies.

Personally I reckon that you'll be hard pushed to find a car with that low mileage in your budget. Unless you were gonna settle for a micra or similar.

I have a diesel mondeo for sale, bigger engine but with the cost difference of running and insuring a diesel it would prob work out the same as a 1.6 petrol, if not better. If you wanna have a look at the ad pm me and I'll send you the link

hmm, looks nice. My dad had alfa years ago, always drove nice.

only downside is the miles, probably too high.

Rover 45, it's only 1.4 but it has 105bhp which is normal for alot of 1.6 litre cars of the time. Ok, they are an old 1990s design but this one has over 12 months NCT, really low mileage, looks tidy and is taxed:

Out of all the cars available for around 3k, you think the best is a Rover 45?Surely the OP can do better than that?!:D

I never said it was the best but with the criteria and budget the OP has then I think it is not a bad option. I'd rather buy a nice tidy fresh Rover for €3k than an older jaded VW or Toyota.

Maybe Bazza but that 45 is ugly.

Engine, handling and all that can't be faulted though.

1.4 in that is excellent, really nippy and sharp.

True I just think there are better cars out there for 3k than drive a Rover 45..
