Just wondering if anyone has any dealings with evanscycles with regard to returning goods ?

I had to send back my joule2.0 today, the toggle button stopped working and water leaked into on the computer on sunday, the warranty is up on nov 18. I returned stuff before to wiggle and they ve been great with full refund on date of returned goods, but the customer service operator with evans said that the computer will have to be returned to cycleopes for inspection, which i thought was just passing the book afriad to take the hit on the refund

Not had any experience of sending stuff back to Evans, but I think it's fair enough if they want to get Cycleops/Saris to have a look at it as Evans will be relying on them to stand behind the warranty (and they presumably have the option of repairing it)

I've had a couple of problems with Garmins and I've sent them straight back to Garmin rather than the retailer (after contacting Garmin) - they've sent out replacements straight away

your contract is with evans not cycleopes, and IMO you are entilted to a refund if under warranty, doesnt sound like reasonable wear and tear

Have you read the Saris warranty? Very few warranties entitle the purchaser to a refund. Saris' warranty entitles them to repair, replace or, at their option (not the purchaser's) refund the purchase price

The purchaser is perfectly entitled to return the product to the retailer under the warranty - my suggestion was simply cutting out the middle man and would normally result in a faster resolution of the issue

tru dat, check the small print re. water damage within warranty.
but if it wasnt fit for purpose, he is entitled to a refund from the vendor.

If it came out of the box not working you would have a point, but it's been fit for purpose for over 11 months:confused: There is no way they'll give a refund in the circumstances (and no retailer should be expected to). With a bit of luck the OP will get a brand new replacement, which would be the best of all worlds tbh

The few dealings I've had with Evans have been very good, but never returned anything to them.

CRC does the same: They forward stuff to the manufacturer to get the okay (either a photo, for cheaper stuff, or the full monty for more expensive stuff) and have always offered refund when I've asked for it in lieu of a replacement. If you want a refund, ask. Maybe you'll score.

I had a zipper break on a jacket which i bought from wiggle before, i returned it about 10 months later and wiggle gave me a refund as soon as they returned the goods. Wiggle just seem to have a excellent customer service record everytime i dealt with them
