I've been looking at this bike as a very decent carbon bike to get started with some road racing next year. The spec seems good for the price and I've heard Cube are putting out some great bikes.

    https://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=35&idproduct=48030

Can anyone recommend this bike or come up with a comparative alternative?

That looks like great value for the spec! I notice a lot of manufacturers seem to be getting more competitive for 2012!

Stretch a bit more for this one:

Slightly better components but for me the selling point is the internal gear cable routing, think it looks really good with the internal cables.

Yes Mickey I'm aware of that but in no panic to get my hands on it!

Yes I was considering that one also but what am I really getting for the extra €350? What does the internal gear cable routing give me?

Thanks for everyone's help with this!!

The CSS specs are contradictory so hard to be sure but you might be getting better forks, better wheels and upgraded shifters and other components.

This might interest you. I've always admired Dolan frames.

Always thought Dolan were far more expensive, have they changed their business model?
Do you know which is the premium model I assume it’s the Ares model?

They used to be more expensive, I don't know when they reduced their prices. They certainly seem great value now.

The Tuone SE used to be their top model but the Sean Kelly An Post team are using the Ares and it is more expensive. If I was buying I think I'd go for the Tuono SE though. I love that matching carbon seatpost:).

Oh Paul You got me thinking now - on the lookout for a new bike for a while not really in a rush but as most new models are not available until January I had hoped to pick up an end of year bargain budget 1.5k.

The Tuone SE is very nice it is the only frame offering a large enough frame at least 58cm even 60cm. even with Apex (which I am sure would be fine for me) this could come in under budget and maybe before xmas
    :)

Getting back to the original thread, I have to stick to a specific supplier as I'll be using the bike to work scheme.

I just need to know if the more expensive pro bike is really worth the extra money?

Cube Agree GTC Compact Bike 2012 - €1,450
Cube Agree GTC Pro Compact Bike 2012 - €1,800

If you put the two bikes in here to compare them -

    http://www.cube.eu/en/service/bike-comparison/

You'll see the only difference is the Pro has Ultegra shifting (Shifters, front and rear mechs) and the bikes have different wheels.

IMHO, the new 5700 105 shifting is very nearly as good as Ultegra and the Ultegra is not worth paying a lot extra for. As for the wheels, I don't see enough difference to merit paying extra.

Have you tried contacting http://buildabike.ie/ to see if they have any left in stock ?

I got their last Cube Aerial a couple of weeks ago.

That's my uneducated guess myself Paul, thanks for your help with this. Unless someone can come up with a good reason I'll go ahead with the non-pro version.

They have some 2011 still in stock, especially if you need a 56 or 58cm. you might get a nice discount too, no harm giving them a call. their prices for Cube are very similar to CSC

You could spend the difference on a set of these -

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/WPSHRS80CA/shimano_rs80_c24_carbon_wheelset_%28pair%29

Basically the same as these only with a slightly less high tech hub.

    Hey
Any joy finding this bike in stock anywhere? I have been looking at same and am now without wheels so the pro is starting to tempt me despite extra €€.
Although it the extra, I think (uneducated thoughts) that it gets you more bike for the price than other makes. Perhaps I'm wrong.

My local shop (Richies in Swords) quoted me €1399 for that bike. I didn't get it, but it took them four business days to get me my Agree SL delivered and assembled.

After building many a bike the internal cable routing looks great nice clean lines on the frame, But Internal Cable routing is a nightmare especially after a few weeks riding in the rain, you can not slip the outer cable off for a quick lube, for ease of maintenance i would stay with external cable routing.
