Leather trousers

Just wondering if anyone here ever wears leather trousers? Are they totally ridiculous and impossible to pull off in real life? Sometimes they look amazing in celeb photos but can't help but feel they must be difficult to wear unless you have a perfect figure.

Any thoughts? I'm a size 10 and was considering getting a pair around Xmas but perhaps this is a bout of madness.

I love this look - skinny pleather leggings and a long top, it looks amazing! Defo size 10 I haven`t taken the plunge because I`m a size 14 omg if I was a 10 I would be wearing it. Actual leather trousers aren`t as nice as pvc or pleather but maybe thats just me personally.

I'd have to disagree with you there, but each to their own. Leather looks, feels and ahem, smells great.

My other half wears them if we're heading out to the cinema or for a meal. Naturally I think she looks fabulous. Susie, 10 is a perfect size so why not go for it. The main thing I can say would be to buy a pair without pockets as they tend to look more flattering.

They can of course be expensive so I would recommend that you think about buying a pair from eBay (there are plenty of bargains to be had). It'll give you an idea as to whether or not you like the look and it won't cost too much. If you think they suit you then you can invest in a good quality pair from a shop or online retailer.

Thanks for the tips. Have seen your missus in the photos you've posted and she looks fabulous! Will have a look around on ebay and see what's on offer. Thanks again.

I'm a size 10 and have a pair I got 2 years ago - I can't go a winter without wearing them. they are gorgeous with woolies or lace tops if going out, or I wore a python print blouse with it last weekend :)

    GO FOR IT :)

I think you should definitely get a pair Susie Q. :) I've been wearing a pair very like the ones before, I actually got them as gift and love them. It's very easy to wear them during the day, with ballet flats and a shirt or with heels for going out. I think the more fitted the better and as the poster above said avoid pockets.

Aye, that pair in the photo are gorgeous. Is it possible to buy these type of ones without spending hundreds of euros? Not having too much luck online, can anyone point me in the right direction? Ebay isn't great as most of the trousers aren't modelled on a person so it's hard to tell what they fit like.

    Hi Suzie,

You can try these guys on eBay. I've bought quite a few things from them in the past. Is the below along the lines of what you're looking for? If not just click on their username to see more. If you don't see your size don't worry, they update their items pretty much every day.

You do not have to be 'skinny' to wear leather pants.
I have a bootcut pair that I got a few years ago in a size 12. They look amazing on. Can dress them up or down depending on your mood.
I went for the bootcut because I feel there's more versatility with them.

Back in the days when I was a size 8 I wore leather trousers. I'm a 10-12 now so wouldn't feel as comfortable wearing them. I think that once a woman is over 35 she has to be very careful the way she wears leather trousers or she could end up looking ridiculous. Middle-aged Tina Turner fans come to mind. Leather trousers can be ageing if worn the wrong way.

Leather trousers should be lined. I wore my pair for so long I had to get the lining replaced. If you have the figure and the attitude go for it.

Go for it Susie Q and treat yourself to a pair of leather trousers for Xmas. As you might expect, I love leather and wear head to toe black leather during the cooler months. A leather garment may be expensive, but it will last a very long time. Your leather trousers will keep you warm and dry during the winter months and they always look great whatever the occasion.

Dont worry about that, theyre that cheap secondhand, (a few £) that you should buy a few , wear whichever one feels best and then sell on the rest. I bought a few dirt cheap, top quality, spotless condition and nearly new because the previous owners seldom wore them, sometimes only a couple of times, and you can tell, because they felt selfconsious wearing them unfortunatly. Look up ebay under ladies leather trousers used, and then maybe refine your search from there. Dont bother with anything not well photographed, the photos will tell you a lot. The cheaper more tacky ones will be made from a more tougher harder and rougher leather which will creek with movment, not feel at all comfortable and will have more than one joint on the legs. The right better quality ones will be very soft and extreamly comfortable on and are usualy described as such, wont creek at all and will look smooth and shiny in the photo and will feel even better on. They are usualy the pants type with no pockets at all for that smoother look as opposed to the jeans type which can look great too. Hi or low rise, tight or loose fit, flare or tight leg, pockets or not the choise is yours,
