Batteries and your flash gun

    Morning all

What do you guys use for your flash guns?

I started off with rechargeable batteries but find they take to long to rejuvenate between flashes, normal batteries are good for a while, but don't last, especially if the flash is on full power are anywhere close and a power pack is far to pricey.

I use a Canon 580 EXII with the CP-E4 battery pack - and I use 12 Hannel Re-Chargable batteries, they are top notch!

Mine uses AAs and I've found this Soshine brand to be far better than the others, both in terms of recycling time and holding their charge between uses. Comparable to the far more expensive Eneloop batteries IMHO. The pale green generic ones they sell on Dealextreme (and Ebay) are complete muck though.

Pre-charged, low self-discharge AA cells. I use Panasonic Infinium.
    Sanyo Eneloop offer similar performance.

There are numerous hacks and bodges on the 'net for making your own external supply such as this one*... http://blog.davidburren.com/2003/03/flash-power-pack.html
Handy if you are studio bound, a bit more cumbersome if you are on the move and it's ugly as sin but you get what you pay for.

*usual cautions and disclaimers attached for anything D.I.Y. especally allowing the flash occasional periods of time to cool down.

I use Uniross 2700mAh rechargeable batteries (usually picked up from MyMemory.co.uk).

I have two Metz 48 AF-1 guns and a Yongnuo YN460II and find that the batteries work well, last a long time and give good recycle times. Never used anything else since I started using these and wouldn't be in a hurry to move away from them.
