I have a sum of money in a fixed term AIB account. The duration is 18 months and its 6 months of the term gone so far. In the small print its says that no money can be withdrawn until the 18 months is up but further down it says its at the banks digression whether money can be withdrawn early. I'm wondering whats the normal policy with the banks with regards early withdrawals from fixed term accounts? Is it a straight no no or do they give some leeway and charge a penalty for early withdrawals?
