    Hi all,

Two questions for Ye if you don't mind.

    1) how much would brake shoe replacement be? Car failed NCT for handbrake and looks like the shoes. Car peugoet 406.

    2) how much is standard brake pad, replacement including labour roughly?

    Thanks in advance

Roughly €80-100 for shoes and €60-80 for pads would be about right in my opinion depending on the quality/price of the parts used.

Hi Dalton, thanks for the reply.

    Would that include labour?

Yes parts and labour. I am thinking for shoes €30-40 and labour €50-60. Pads €30-40 labour €30-40.

    Hello

You may have to get the 'cylinders' replaced. Something that was mentioned to me when I got new shoes for the rear drum. As it happened there was none in stock, so just got the shoes done and hope no more problems. The lining came off the shoe and seized up the whole drum

Labour for me was €200 for everything, including removing a seized drum

    Insurance covered the recovery

    Hope info helps

Those prices would be there or thereabouts but you want to have the cause of the fail checked properly, It could be a number of things besides the shoes.

On the 406 i'd be looking at the handbrake cable (as well as the brake shoes)
The main cable runs to the back of the car and is tee'd into two separate cables to each wheel...if one of the these cables are sticking/rusty then this will cause a rear brake imbalance...after that new cylinders/brake shoes should sort it..:)
