After the advice I got on what I can do with the equipment I have, I'm looking to get into making some decent cider. Can anyone recommend the best place to get good pressed apple juice for making cider?

Am I right in guessing my best bet is to talk to someone at a farmers market about buying 5l or so from them?

Why bother? If you Google it there's not much difference in the results between fresh apple juice hand pressed by maidens of pure virtue and shop bought concentrated stuff. It's all apple juice in the end.

It seems very strange to me that there'd be no difference in quality of an output when the quality of the inputs are reduced?!

Lidl pressed cloudy apple juice - its 1.25 a litre, Tesco do a similar product for about the same price.

Aldi "not from concentrate" is great value. Green carton.
There is also an orchard in north county dublin (Swords I think) called Lispopple and they do beautiful pressed apple juice.

Oh yes their is, apart altogether from the maidens, the taste and flavor is different, worse still it's different every time.
It all depends on the apples and the weather and all sorts of things. If you kill off the wild yeasts first or let them ferment the juice. For repeatable results go with the Lidl or Aldi, for flavor and real cider get real apple juice.

I would say any health food store would have some "real" juice

I'm down in KK so no help their. Try farmers markets if your felling flush, 3euro a 750ml bottle usually. If there are orchards in the area they sometimes sell in bulk.
You could buy apples at a supermarket and do all the chopping and squishing yourself TBH it's not worth it unless you can get apples free, know anyone with a few trees and windfalls?
