Realistically what are Luke Donald's chances of being voted POTY in the US??

I can't see it happening myself, I think Bradley will get the nod. Let's have a look at the contenders:

    Luke

    Pros:
    • World No.1 for most of the year
    • 2 PGA Tour wins incl. a WGC event
    • 14 PGA Tour top-10s from 19 events (74%), that's an astonishing record!
    • In top-5 of several PGA tour stats
    • international wins on top of PGA Tour wins
    • will probably win European Order of Merit as well
    Cons:
    • He's not American!
    Webb Simpson

    Pros:
    • 2 PGA Tour wins
    • 12 PGA Tour top-10s from 26 events (46%)
    • sympathy card for what happened @ Zurich
    • He's American
    Cons:
    • Luke trumps him in all categories
    Keegan Bradley

    Pros:
    • 2 PGA Tour wins incl. PGA Ch'ship
    • 4 PGA Tour top-10s from 28 events (14%)
    • He's American
    • Not only is he American, he's also related to an LPGA golfing icon so is seen as part of America's golfing establishment
    Cons:
    • None as far as the PGA Tour is concerned, the next great hope for US golf?!?
To me it's a no-brainer, the PGA tour should be proud to vote Luke their POTY, but I'll bet Bradley gets the nod. His world ranking was only 115 the week before he won the PGA ffs.

    Has to be Luke Donald.

Having said that, they did vote for Rickie Fowler ahead of Rors for rookie of the year. So, who knows!

So the PGA tour have delayed the date for opening the ballots until the after the HSBC Champions WGC event at the start of Nov.

So it think after his astounding performance on the back 9 on the last day of the McGladrey last weekend, it's pretty fair to say that the PGA tour don't want Donald to win it!

It's absolutely ridiculous that they can go and change this. The McGladrey was supposed to be last counting tournament for the POTY, and then, AFTER the event, the PGA tour decide to change it. That's like playing a tournament over 4 days, and then after its over, the organisers turn around and say 'actually, it's a five day tournament.'

Everyone knows that Donald should be POTY.

the latest delay in sending out the ballots does seem odd indeed, but I still think Donald will win it, and rightly so. Even though not American, he has lived there from College and has an American wife, so I think they almost consider him one of their own. Unlike last year's snub of McIlroy for rookie of the year after he stated he wouldn't be playing a full schdule this year

You forgot to mention that luke tops the PGA money list. I think he will get it, they realistically cannot give it to anyone else.

Harrington won it in 2008, before that it was Vijay in 2004. I'd say Donald is a shoe in.

thats rubbish....poty is always given to the best player that year, Donald by topping the money list is that player.

This is why I don't think Donald will get it.

Harrington finished about 10th(I think) on the money list that year. He got it on winning 2 majors, and rightly so.

Bradley will get it for me because he won the PGA with the recent American struggle in majors.

    Luke deserves it though.
